Springbok Nude Girls – Partypocalypse
R550,00
You would have thought that a rock band that has been around for nearly 30 years would have long run out of ideas and shot it`s creative bolt? take U2 in point. Not so in the case of the Springbok Nude Girls. If the last couple of albums sounded a little uninspired, a band going through the paces and rolling out the `hits` in one of their interminable `farewell ` tours`, then the new album “Partypocalypse” should change that perception. The four years since the last record have been clearly good for the band as they seem to have taken stock of themselves, concentrated on writing and developing the kind of songs that play to their strengths.
It`s almost as if they tapped into some kind of intravenous power point and transmogrified into a modern day powerhouse rock Dorian Gray. Visceral and vicious, the pulverizing riff of the opener “Emerging Submarines” sets the pace, exploding like a Guy Fawkes Night bonanza ! There’s no letdown in the pace with “Best Friends, Best Enemies” and just in case you forgot just how good a lyricist Arno Carstens is, check out the word play on songs like “ Crystal Ball and “ Get the picture”. There is barely a dud song on the record.
“Partypocalypse” is a finely crafted album with cutting edge production that should appeal to the modern-day rock audience. It sounds fresh, full of vim and vigor and honestly makes the majority global alt-hard rock bands sound jaded. Sleeve / Vinyl Mint
